  • Assessment pre-write
  • Create questions for Friday’s Book Circle using the following stems:

Knowledge:  tell, list, describe, name, who, what happened

Comprehension:  What is the main idea…, explain why…, predict, compare/contrast, explain

Application:  What questions would you ask…, could this have happened?…Show…Generalize…Infer what the author means in this paragraph…

Analyze:  What was the theme of this section?  What are some problems the characters are experiencing?  How is_____________similar to___________________?  Arrange, Outline, Organize

Evaluate:  How would you handle__________________?  Do you think________________ is a good or bad thing/person?  How would you feel if_____________________________?

Create:  For Mastery Level-  Design, compose, plan, review, propose an alternative ending to a major event in this section, what would happen if…..

Be prepared for Friday’s Book Circle!

  • In small groups, create a cartoon/comic strip/children’s book of the first three chapters of Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry.  Use direct quotes from the book to earn 4/4.  Use illustrations to make your chapter come to life.  Stick figures are all right if they’re tidy.
